Therapist Spotlight 4.1 - Theresa Slade, LGPC

Get to know our therapists!

We are back with our Therapist Spotlight interviews! This is an opportunity to get to know a little bit more about our therapists and learn what it might be like to work with them. Finding a therapist can be hard, it is a big step. You have to choose to make a change in your life and trust in a person you don't know. For many that is the most influential part of therapy - making a connection, so take some time to learn about our therapists!

Therapist Interview #4 - Featuring: Theresa Slade, LGPC

How did you know you wanted to become a therapist?

"Ever since I can remember, I have had a deep desire to help people with their challenges and difficulties. After college, I struggled a bit finding out what career would bring me the most fulfillment. I had a few trial-and-error jobs, but it wasn’t until pursuing a master's degree in counseling that I realized this field was where I was meant to be all along. Therapy is so incredibly powerful and with the right therapist, it can be life changing. My goal is to become a therapist who can sit in your corner with you and provide tools to make life a little bit easier."

What do you hope clients gain from working with you?

"I hope clients gain autonomy and confidence in themselves from working with me, as well as an understanding of how powerful it is to be vulnerable and sort through difficult times. Although therapy sometimes has a negative connotation to it, it is my hope that from working with me, my clients see how much strength and vulnerability it takes to come to therapy when things are hard."

How do you work with clients?

"I like to emphasize that I work alongside clients. I’m a firm believer that no one knows the client better than themselves. It is my job to listen and understand a client’s perspective and their values in order to work with them to address their issues. I am a bubbly individual and I strive to find the positive in our sessions; even during the most challenging ones. We are so much more than our challenges or shortcomings and I love to help my clients find their hope again."
